DDR Video CardsUsing DDR memory on video cards allows more data to travel faster, thus resulting in higher screen resolutions using more colors with higher quality rendering and faster frame rates. This performance edge is highly sought after in the world of computer gamers, or those simply performing lots of 3D video rendering. nVidia was one of the first companies to release DDR memory into the retail consumer marketplace. They produce a number of high performance video card chipsets under the GeForce brand name. Their chipsets are licensed to various hardware manufacturers who then assemble the video cards and sell them to consumers in the retail markets. ATI is yet another company that currently makes DDR video cards under the product line named Radeon. ATI makes their own retail edition cards and also now licenses their core chipsets to other companies. Note: DDR Video cards use DDR memory that is fabricated to the video card and therefore you cannot swap DDR SDRAM memory sticks with your motherboard. Here's a tip for saving some money while getting a top performing DDR video card. High end video cards are marketed to either CAD design professionals or serious hardcore video game players. Often, they include a big shiny box with lots of fancy attractive graphics on it. You can save yourself some money by not buying the fancy box retail edition and go with a plain white box version of the same product. Crucial sells the Radeon 9700 Pro and Radeon 8500LE OEM version of these high end video cards for very low prices, plus they'll give you the same excellent service they give their RAM customers by rushing it to you via FedEx 2nd Day Air for no extra charge! © Copyright 2010, DDR-Memory.com |
