Corsair PC2400 DDR MemoryEnthusiasts looking to push the performance envelope of their computer systems to the max may be interested in PC2400 (300Mhz DDR RAM). Currently, DDR motherboards are built to support PC2100 DDR RAM which are clocked at 133Mhz x 2 and thus resulting in 266Mhz. Some people, particularly those who claim to be true geeks or extreme gamers, are never satisfied with a 'normal system' and like to tweak their hardware. I have to admit, it is pretty fun, but you do pay a premium for the higher quality RAM and you run the risk of damaging your computer. PC2400 DDR memory runs at a clock speed of 150Mhz (doubled is 300Mhz) and requires you to overclock your motherboard by adjusting jumper settings. Be aware that overclocking will probably void the warranty of your motherboard since at this time motherboard manufacturers do not 'officially' support PC2400 memory even though their products may technically. If you do decide that this is the thing for you, then be sure to have a well ventilated computer case and a powerful cpu fan, as the heat output will typically be increased when you overclock a system. Overheating is a sure guarantee that your system will crash more often and potentially be permanently damaged. Even if your system does run fine at first, it is well known that overclocked systems typically have a shorter life span than normal systems. Do not overclock your system unless you are completely willing to risk the value of your computer hardware. The following are links to Corsair PC2400 DDR memory. Since PC2400 isn't a typical consumer standard, it's more difficult to find than more common PC2100 DDR memory. You can also find PC2400 RAM by searching for PC2400 on eBay.
